The herbs found to have the highest levels of phytoestrogen are the three listed above: Black Cohosh, Dong Quai and Red Clover. It is for this reason that they are so commonly used in estrogen herbal supplements.
Are Estrogen Herbal Supplements Safe?
Before beginning any routine involving estrogen herbal supplements, you should first consult a doctor. Estrogen supplements have been shown to cause some potentially damaging effects in women, including increasing the risk of breast cancer. While phytoestrogens differ from estrogen, they are similar enough that many doctors are concerned about their use.
Studies have also shown that in some women, estrogen supplements can increase the risk of blood clots and potentially harm cardiovascular health. However, since phytoestrogens again differ from estrogen, it has not been completely concluded whether or not phytoestrogen carries the same danger.
There are many benefits derived from the use of estrogen herbal supplements, however there are potential risks as well.
